Welcome, Mama!
SYDNEY WHITE
BSN, RN, CLC
Hi, I’m Sydney. I’m a Registered Nurse (RN) and Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). As a bachelor degree prepared RN, I devoted my career as a Mother/Baby Nurse, serving families in a high-risk antepartum and postpartum/newborn unit. I've had the privilege of supporting numerous families as they welcome a new baby!

I have a deep and genuine passion for standing alongside mothers and their babies during this sacred transition. My greatest desire is for families to feel empowered and equipped with compassionate care.

As a mom of two little ones, I have learned firsthand how every baby is different and each breastfeeding journey is unique. The encouraging support I received furthered my desire to come alongside moms in a similar fashion. Now I get to support moms like you!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I schedule a lactation consulatation?

Breastfeeding, while natural, can bring unexpected challenges. Here are a few reasons families may seek support:
- Painful latch
- Slow weight gain or weight loss
- Milk supply concerns, such as low milk supply or oversupply
- Issues with engorgement, clogged ducts, or mastitis
- Exclusive pumping
- Return to work planning
- Weaning
- Nursing strikes and teething
- Preparing in pregnancy
- Weaning from a nipple shield or bottle
- Bottle refusal and introducing the bottle
- "Clicking" when nursing
- Inefficient feeding (feeling like baby feeds "forever" or "all the time")

At Cradle & Latch, we are here to support you in a personalized way, whatever your journey looks like!

What can I expect during an in home lactation visit?

During an in home lactation visit, we focus on what is most important to you! We'll start with a brief medical history of you and your baby. Then, we will take a weight of your baby using a medical grade scale before and after a feeding to estimate milk transfer, to see how much milk your baby takes in. As you feed your baby, we will assist with positioning, latch, and offer tailored and targeted feedback as needed. Then, we'll create a personalized plan to help you reach your breastfeeding goals, including additional resources and follow up care. Typically, your first visit lasts 90 minutes.

And we highly recommend that your spouse, partner, or other support person is there with you if possible. Feeding babies is a team sport!

Do you accept insurance for a lactation visit?

At this time, we are only in network with TRICARE Prime and Select. If we do not accept your insurance, we can still support you! After you pay upfront, we will provide a super bill for you to submit to your insurance for an out of network claim.

Do you accept HSA or FSA cards?

Yes, we do accept HSA/FSA cards, as long as they are issued by one of the major card brands (Visa, Discover, Mastercard, or Amex). However, it's also MCC (merchant chain code) dependent. If the MCC doesn't align with a business that should be accepting HSA/FSAs, it may not work.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. While understand that things come up in the early days of young babies, we do our best to accommodate both the families we serve and the preparation that goes into planning each visit.

If you have to cancel an appointment less than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment time, your card on file will be charged $25. You will be notified before your card is charged.

I'm pregnant and planning to breastfeed, can you tell me where I can start?

First of all, congratulations! We are passionate about prenatal care at Cradle & Latch, so there are a few different ways that you can get the support you desire to reach your goals. We offer private prenatal lactation visits, with both in home and secure telehealth options. Additionally, every month, we offer our prenatal Breastfeeding Essentials workshop, available online and in person. You can sign up for either of these options here.
